Today I’m sharing my top 3 tips for preparing for a newborn session (after you’ve already delivered your baby).
1.) Set out your outfits the night before the session. For me personally after I delivered my first baby, I found that getting out the door to be on time for anything was a huge learning curve! Having your outfits ready the night before will help you to feel less stressed the day of the session.
2.) Don’t stress too much about when to feed the baby the day of. I always recommend to my clients that they try to either feed the baby before leaving the house, or feed upon arrival, HOWEVER! Neither of these are necessities, only recommendations. If the timing doesn’t work out that morning, it’s totally okay. You will have plenty of time to feed and soothe as needed during the session.
3.) Mentally prepare to sit back and relax during your session! Truly, this is what I hope to communicate to all of my mom clients who feel stressed about whether a newborn session will go well or not. The best thing that you can do is plan to simply rest and enjoy yourself. Bring a book, tablet, pillow for a nap, whatever you need to help relax and enjoy.
